Twenty Connecticut nursing homes ranked among the best in the United States, according to a new list from Newsweek.
According to the weekly news magazine’s list of “America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026,” Southington Care Center and West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center both led the Connecticut rankings.
This year, Newsweek recognized the top 1,200 out of the more than 15,000 Medicare- or Medicaid-certified nursing homes in the nation, and 20 from the Constitution State made the list, the magazine said.
To compile the rankings, the magazine evaluated facilities based on performance data, peer recommendations, and resident satisfaction, Newsweek said. It also used vaccination rates as quality measures.
“We hope this ranking serves as a valuable tool in helping families make informed decisions about long-term care,” healthcare editor Alexis Kayser said in a statement.
