OFFICIALS THERE SAY THE NEW UNIT FEATURES ADVANCED TECH DESIGNED TO HELP PATIENTS REGAIN MOBILITY, STRENGTH, COGNITIVE FUNCTION AND INDEPENDENCE MORE QUICKLY AND SAFELY. WE’RE OPENING IT WITH STATE OF THE ART EQUIPMENT. WE’RE VERY EXCITED IN THAT FACT THAT THERE’S LESS REHAB BEDS IN OUR AREA RIGHT NOW, BUT THAT’S A VERY VITAL SERVICE. WE HAVE PATIENTS THAT ARE SEVERELY INJURED, POSSIBLY THROUGH A TRAUMA OR OR PERHAPS A SEVERE ILLNESS, LIKE A STROKE OR A HEART ATTACK. AND THEY REQUIRE REHABILITATION CARE. WE’RE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT HERE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL AND ADD TO OUR TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY UNIT THAT WE ALSO HAVE HERE.

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday at Allegheny Valley Hospital to celebrate a newly renovated and expanded inpatient rehabilitation unit.Allegheny Health Network says the new unit features advanced tech designed to help patients regain mobility, strength, cognitive function and independence more quickly and safely. This is part of a $6.2 million investment.”We’re opening it with state-of-the-art equipment. We’re very excited in that fact that there’s less rehab beds in our area right now, but that is a very vital service,” Allegheny Valley Hospital President Mark Rubino said. “We have patients that are severely injured, possibly through a trauma or perhaps a severe illness, like a stroke or a heart attack, and they require rehabilitation care. We’re able to provide that here at the highest level, and add to our traumatic brain injury unit that we also have here.”
